A New Season In Life: Our Family Is Growing

Hi guys! It’s been a while since I’ve been on here (I’m so sorry about that) + boy oh boy, has a lot happened since. Yep, our family is growing! When I found out I was pregnant, I went straight into ‘hibernation mode.’ All I did was sleep, sleep, + sleep some more. Who knew a baby could take all of your energy so early? During this time, we were still in football season + made it all the way to the Super Bowl… + WON! Yes, I was PREGNANT at the Super Bowl + probably the only sober one there celebrating, haha.  Most of this time, Jordan + I were keeping our little secret safe which was the hardest thing to do with guest coming in + out throughout the playoffs. Once we had our first appointment, at the end of February, we flew to Austin that weekend to surprise our family + friends with the news. What a relief that was because I was definitely growing a belly by then. And as you know, we announced we were expecting at the end of March.

On that note, I can’t believe I’m going to be a mommy!!! Jordan + I are over the moon about our baby boy who will be here before we know it–almost halfway there, y’all. I get so excited every time I think about our baby. I’ll be the first to tell you that this pregnancy was not planned + I was most certainly in shock when we found out–I’ll leave this story for another day. We had talked about kids here + there because Jordan had been so eager to have them, but I wanted to start trying after our one year anniversary in June. Well, God said this is happing NOW! I thought I wasn’t ready, but really, who is? God’s timing + His abundant blessings never fail us.Growing a baby is pretty spectacular + I am learning so much about myself + my body! I am still trying to be as active as possible, + working out 3-4 times a week is the goal for me. So far, so good! Haha, we’ll see how much longer I’ll be able to keep up with this baby boy growing inside of me. I just pray for a healthy baby + a smooth pregnancy. Thankful for all of you who have prayed over our family-to-be.

Currently, I’m sitting here writing this post in Philly. Since Jordan tore his Achilles this past season, we have spent most of our off-season here for his rehab. Thanking God for his fast recovery, perseverance, + motivation to get better every single day. Couldn’t be more proud of my baby daddy! As we prepare for a new football season, we’re also preparing for a sweet new season in life as parents. We have spent the last month + a half house hunting for something a bit more functional for our baby + 3 dogs. City life has been good to us, but we’re ready for the ‘burbs. Hoping to find something soon–crossing my fingers. We also just started looking at nursery pieces + the options are endless. There are so many things we need to get for this baby that we don’t even know where to start, but, that’s okay, we still have some time on our hands. Thankfully, we have a lot of friends here who have kids that have given us advice + recommendations. However, picking a name will probably be the hardest thing of them all. So, if you have any name recommendations, please leave a comment below. Anything that sounds good with Hicks. πŸ™‚

I feel like there is so much I have to catch you guys up on, however, not too much has happened in the Hicks household. Definitely taking things with a lot more ease, trying to live a stress-free life as much as possible. Also, is it weird that I have been in the best mood since I’ve been pregnant? I’m not complaining one bit. Baby boy has been so good to me. I have been enjoying my mornings with our dogs along with some worship + prayer time. My day-to-day also consists of working out, watching the Hallmark channel + hanging out as much as I can with Jordan. Really, we just love to bum + watch shows–soaking up our time as just us two with our dogs. By the way, if you need a good show to watch, I, or should I say we, highly recommend ‘Suits.’ SO GOOD, I promise! We end every night by reading this amazing devotional called Night Light that was given to us as a wedding gift. For those of you who get it, I pray that it’s as fruitful to you + your significant other as it’s been for us. It’s been such a sweet reminder of why we love one another + how we can continue to keep God at the forefront of our marriage. I’d love to know if you get it + love it.

I want to thank you all for taking the time to read this. Your love, support, + encouragement does not go unnoticed. Grateful for each + every one of you. Excited to have y’all along this journey!
