We’re Building In Austin!

The word is out! The Hicks family will soon have a place to call home in Austin, TX. 

I was born and raised in Austin, so it’s extra special to be able to raise my sweet little family here, too. Prior to deciding to build, we lived in a townhome, in central Austin, that we quickly outgrew when we found out we were pregnant with Lukah (February 2019). Suddenly, our family of 5 (Jordan, me, Ayven, and our 3 dogs) was soon going to be a family of 6. Fast forward to summer of 2019, we found a place to call home and we quickly had to jump on it to lock it in due to leaving for the season. Jordan had to head back to Arizona for training camp at the end of July while Ayven and I stayed behind so that I could make all the design meetings for our future home—not to mention, I was 8 months pregnant packing up our townhome to put everything in storage because we sold it early August. Putting together design boards for this house was a lot of fun! I could just imagine our family growing/playing in each room and corner of the house. But, it was also stressful. I was doing it all alone. In a matter of weeks, I had to design our family’s home, and I did it. Design is so fun to me and I can’t wait for you to see what the inside will look like. 

This past football season came and went faster than ever before. Now, we’re back in Austin for the off-season and it’s been so much fun being able to go and check on the house and see, what once was a piece of land, slowly turn into our sweet future home. 

The Progress: A lot happened in January; foundation, plumbing, and framing. This month, they wrapped the house and did all electrical + HVAC. The estimated time of completion is July, so not too long to go now. Eek, my heart flutters at the thought of us being in it this time next year! That’s right, next year. Right, when our home is supposed to be completed, our family will be headed back to Arizona for the 2020 football season—that’ll just make the wait extra special and I’m here for it.
