I am so excited to share with y’all how Jordan + I got engaged in the most beautiful place, Turks + Caicos. Easily, one of the happiest days of my life! You’ll see why 🙂 I’ll also include some of our favorite restaurants that you must try if you’re ever in ‘Provo.’
At the time Jordan + I were long distance because he had relocated from Austin to Philadelphia to play for the Eagles, so it was a trip I was very much looking forward to. The first few days in Turks + Caicos were full of rest + relaxation. The island was absolutely beautiful, + the hotel was perfect! We quickly got settled in + enjoyed our time together beachside or down by the pool for the first few days. It was a hot Saturday, poolside when Jordan asked me what I wanted to do the following day–the choices were endless, but one option stood out. He brought up the idea of sailing the beautiful Turks + Caicos waters which was an adventure I was all in for! Jordan quickly searched for boat companies on his phone + showed me one in particular that looked pretty awesome. After my approval, he got up to head to the concierge desk to call + see if they had any availability for the next day. Meanwhile, I enjoyed my coconut drink in the pool because he took forever to come back. When he finally did, he said ‘we’re good to go!’ everything was set + paid for our exciting 8-hour sail that included snorkeling, + a private dinner on a secluded beach.
Sunday, June 26th, started off as a normal vacation morning. We took a run on the beach (aka Jordan did + I walked lol), had a nice breakfast, + jumped in the water for a refreshing morning swim. Not a worry in the world in this beautiful place! After our swim, we headed up to our room to shower + get ready for our sail charter. I was so excited, all I kept thinking about was a beautiful dinner on a secluded beach–just sounded so dreamy + romantic. Right, girls? Of course, I already had my dress picked out for the occasion, but Jordan kept insisting I wear this all white long dress to match his all white outfit. Welp, I ended up wearing my floral dress + also made him change his shirt.
Shortly after, our taxi had arrived to take us to meet our Captain, Tim. He + his crew member, Jon, were so sweet. Um…also, there were two cute dogs on the boat waiting for us. Like what? I was missing my babies like crazy, so I was so happy to have these two along for the ride. As we start to take off, Jordan + I couldn’t help but soak it all in. The breeze, the turquoise waters, the beautiful island + it’s people. It felt like a piece of heaven!
We began to talk about life, + how blessed we are to be able to experience these beautiful places together. 20 minutes, or so, into our sail, Captain Tim tells us we’re about to pass what many believe is the most beautiful part in Turks + Caicos. Jordan gets up to quickly refill his drink, but when he returned, he returned with much more than a refill. He gave me his hand to help stand me up. Not a word was said as we locked our eyes together. I knew IT was about to happen. He promised me a lifelong love, + made me the happiest girl in the world as he asked me to marry him. Jon, ‘the crew member,’ came over to re-introduce himself to me as ‘Jon, the photographer.’ Afterwards, we celebrated, did our engagement shoot around the islands, + even got to swim with wild dolphins which was a sweet ending to our perfect day.
When we got back to our hotel, we were surprised to a room upgrade, a bottle of champagne, + a framed picture of our engagement sitting on the island. The people of Turks + Caicos are some of the most kind you’ll ever come across, + the workers at this hotel exceeded our expectations. One of the workers even sent up a piece of cake for Jordan’s birthday.
Little did I know that my husband had already had this all planned–long before we traveled to Turks + Caicos. That Saturday when he took forever to book it all, he was really finalizing details with the captain, + hotel to make sure this day was perfect. And it was! Everything from the turquoise waters, to the white sandy beaches, + the perfect weather made this day so incredibly special to us. June 26th will be a day I’ll never forget! I am so blessed to walk through this life with you by my side, Jordan, + I thank the Lord for making me your better half.
If you’re ever in Turks, you must have dinner at Magnolia restaurant in Turtle Cove! It’s a place we always rave about. They’re known for their amazing view + sunsets. But, there’s one thing that made this place amazing–their tuna. You guys must try their ‘Sesame Crusted Rare Seared Tuna’…hands down, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Jordan ordered the ‘Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin.’ While his food was delicious, he couldn’t keep his fork out of my plate. I’m tellin’ you, it was that good!
To celebrate our engagement, we went to eat at a restaurant called Coco Bistro. Also, one of our favorite places to eat at in Provo. It is located in the heart of Grace Bay, + a dinner experience that you’ll never forget. We ate under coconut palms in a romantic lit setting. I had the ‘Pepper Crusted Rare Local Tuna.’ We were also greeted by ‘Coco,’ the restaurant cat who has been there for years.
Special thanks to The Gansevoort Hotel for making our time in Turks + Caicos one we’ll never forget. If you’re looking for an awesome sail charter, you must check out Sail Beluga. Captain Tim is professional, wise, and so much fun. Lastly, thank you to our amazing photographer, Jon Nickson, who shot the most stunning pictures of our special day–and, for bringing along his two dogs.
Where should we travel to next?
I hope everyone had a great weekend! 🙂
